If you haven’t already noticed, we love unique ways to display Scripture and other things in our home that make us think on God’s character and Word. Sometimes, however, it can get overwhelming posting wordy signs all over your home. At one point I remember my husband and I both saying “I mean, I love this sign and that sign but there are just a lot of WORDS in here.” So that helped me to start thinking of different ways to setup our home purposefully that was not just an abundance of letters.
I came across Roseland Art Co. in my search for Christian home decor companies to feature on our blog and I was so drawn to the beauty of her paintings. I loved that the mission, motive, and goal of her paintings were God’s glory yet without words this was accomplished. Wait… did I finally just understand art? [Insert jaw drop here]
Maura’s paintings serve multiple purposes for her. First, they were something she was able to do when a debilitating (and ever ongoing though ever improving) disease struck her body. She was unable to do ordinary things like picking up her daughters. But, by God’s grace, painting was something she could do from her dining room table. It also served as a purposeful way to help her not focus on the physical pain she was enduring. When talking to Maura she mentioned that she “paint[s] ‘Soli Deo Gloria’ and gives it all to Him. He does what he pleases with it, whether that means I make a sale or it simply brings some peace and beauty to someone looking at it in person or online. May the Lord be glorified in all my work.” Thus, Maura’s ultimate purpose for her paintings are for the glory of God alone.
So why do we love Roseland Art Co.’s paintings? Well because, hello, did you read about Maura and her story above? And secondly, because they remind us of various truths about God. When I see the beautiful custom painting Maura made me (pictured below) hanging in our living room this hymn that’s been on my heart recently comes to mind
“As summer flowers we fade and die
Fame, youth and beauty hurry by
But life eternal calls to us
At the cross
I will not boast in wealth or might
Or human wisdom’s fleeting light
But I will boast in knowing Christ
At the cross”

Not to mention, there are a number of Scriptures that this painting alone can bring to mind. Now, when I think about all this floral painting accomplishes I’m reminded of a specific Scripture
“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:1-4
Any picture, painting, mug, and really just any item that aids in you setting your mind on things above is truly a piece worth owning. This is what we do here. We want to help you find ways to fix your mind on Christ and take something as simple as a decoration on your wall and glorify God through it. Therefore, we love Roseland Art Co.’s paintings and we think you will too.
